QUEENS — A badly decomposed body was found in Kissena Park Wednesday afternoon, the NYPD said.
A driver spotted what appeared to be a skull and bones with charred clothing in the park near 164th Street and Booth Memorial Avenue at about 1:13 p.m., an NYPD spokeswoman said.
Investigators arrived on the scene and found the badly decomposed body about 30 feet into the woods.
No arrests have been made and the person has not yet been identified. The medical examiner will determine the cause of death.
A little more than a year ago, a homeless man found a woman's body stabbed multiple times, disemboweled and dumped in a heavily wooded section of the same park.
Police later identified the victim as 28-year-old Chinese bakery worker Qing Qing Kiemde. Authorities charged Christopher Sobers, 26, whom Kiemde met when they were both outpatients at Elmhurst Hospital Center, with her murder.
