Man Drinking Straw-Ber-Rita Arrested for Trespassing, Police Say

By Leslie Albrecht | February 7, 2017 7:52am

GOWANUS — A man was arrested twice in two days at Wyckoff Gardens public housing development — first sipping a fruit-flavored beer and smoking marijuana and then smoking pot and carrying a knife, police said.

An officer first spotted the 21-year-old man with an open 25-ounce container of Bud Lite Lime Straw-Ber-Rita and a lit marijuana cigarette in the 15th floor stairwell at Wyckoff Gardens on Third Avenue and Baltic Street at 4:20 p.m., according to a police report.

The man, who does not live at Wyckoff Gardens, was arrested on a misdemeanor trespassing charge, according to the report.

He was arrested again on Jan. 25 after police found him at Wyckoff Gardens "with marijuana in plain view" and a gravity knife. He was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, court records show.

The man's defense attorney at the Legal Aid Society could not be reached immediately for comment.

Other recent crimes in the 78th Precinct include the following, with all details from police reports:

► The 29-year-old driver of a 2002 Ford Focus had his car's side mirror broken on Jan. 23 about 10 p.m. after he honked at the vehicle in front of him near Carlton Avenue and Pacific Street. The Ford driver beeped his horn after the traffic light turned green and a man in a San Antonio Spurs jersey got out of the car in front of the Ford, walked over and hit the Ford's side mirror, causing it to break. The Spurs beat the Brooklyn Nets that night at the nearby Barclays Center, 112 to 86.

► A 54-year-old woman was arrested after stealing $10 in cash from a 24-year-old man on Jan. 26 at about 2:21 p.m. The woman asked the man if he had change for a $20. The man handed the woman two $5 bills, which she then put in her pocket before walking away. Her defense attorney at the Legal Aid Society could not be reached immediately for comment.

► A man was arrested Jan. 26 for driving while intoxicated after making an illegal left turn from Bergen Street onto Flatbush Avenue at about 12:20 a.m. Osie Nurse, 41, was driving erratically and had a blood alcohol content level of .101. Nurse's attorney with the Legal Aid Society could not be reached immediately for comment.

► A Garmin GPS device was stolen out of a 2002 Mazda sedan after a thief smashed the car's rear window while the vehicle was parked on Berkeley Place and Eighth Avenue on Jan. 28 at about 1:30 p.m.
