BROOKLYN — Bernie Sanders will return to his native borough this spring when he delivers the commencement address at Brooklyn College, the school announced Thursday.
The Vermont senator will address both undergrad and graduate-school students at the ceremony to be held at the Barclays Center in May, school officials announced.
Sanders, 75, grew up in Midwood and attended Brooklyn College for a year before transferring to the University of Chicago, where he graduated in 1964 with a degree in political science.
He lost a hotly-contested Democratic primary battle to Hillary Clinton last year, but garnered nationwide support for his stances on income inequality and the role of money in politics.
