Pedestrian Fatally Struck, 2 Others Injured, in Brighton Beach Monday: NYPD

BROOKLYN — A female pedestrian was killed and two others injured after an elderly driver jumped a curb in Brighton Beach Avenue Monday afternoon, according to the NYPD.

The 85-year-old driver was attempting to back up his Lexus into a parking spot in front of 281 Brighton Beach Ave. at about 1:15 p.m. when he drove onto the sidewalk and fatally struck a 67-year-old woman, police said.

A 33-year-old man and 70-year-old woman were also hit and suffered minor injuries.

The 67-year-old was taken to Coney Island Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The two other pedestrians were taken to Lutheran Medical Center in stable condition.

The driver remained at the scene and was not initially charged.

The NYPD’s Collision Investigation Squad was investigating.
