MIDTOWN — New Jersey Transit passengers faced severe disruptions during the Monday evening commute after overhead wire problems forced the suspension of two routes for more than an hour, officials said.
Northeast Corridor and North Jersey Coast trains were running with "significant delays" a little after 6 p.m. after both lines were previously suspended to and from New York Penn Station because of the wire problem in Linden, NJ Transit officials said.
Transit bus lines and the PATH were cross-honoring tickets, officials said.
The Newark Air Train was also suspended because of weather conditions. Shuttle buses were providing alternative service.
The disruptions occurred as a nor'easter bore down on the city, bringing an expected three inches of rain and wind gusts up to 70 miles an hour Monday night.
