MANHATTAN — An NYPD communication technician was arrested after beating her 9-year-old son with a belt, according to police.
Janelle Laborde-Woodley was taken into custody at her East Harlem apartment Wednesday after hitting her son, who suffered bruises on both his arms, an NYPD spokeswoman said.
The police employee was charged with assault and was expected to be arraigned in Manhattan Criminal Court Friday.
She was suspended following the arrest and could be fired depending on the outcome of the case.
The city Administration for Children's Services said they were looking into the incident.
"We are concerned by the allegations involving a child and are investigating along with the NYPD," an ACS spokesman said.
It was not immediately clear who had custody of the boy following his mother's arrest.
