EAST HARLEM — A woman was grabbed from behind and raped by an unknown assailant Monday, the NYPD said.

The 39-year-old old victim was walking down Second Avenue and East 116th Street around 1:30 a.m. when the suspect walked up behind her, grabbed her, forced her to the ground and raped her, police said.

Police said a good Samaritan came and scared the assailant away.

The victim was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital for treatment.

The suspect was described as male and 6 feet tall.

Nobody had been arrested as of Friday afternoon.
