BROOKLYN — He ordered some cold hard cash, but they ladled out some pain instead.

Two Chinese food restaurant workers used kitchen utensils to fend off a knife-wielding robber who was trying to stick up their establishment, NYPD officials said.

In a video released by police Wednesday, the robber hops onto the counter with knife in hand, but then retreats when the cooks rush him about 9:30 p.m. on Jan. 4 inside Chen's Garden at 11046 Flatlands Ave., police said.

The robber left the restaurant empty-handed, but he's successfully stuck up three other eateries since Dec. 19, police said.

He first robbed a Dunkin' Donuts at 11010 Flatlands Ave. by handing a note to a 20-year-old clerk who forked over $320 in cash, police said.

Ten days later, he pulled a knife on a 26-year-old woman behind the counter of a combination KFC and Taco Bell who then gave him $876 from the register, police said.

Then, about 9 p.m. on Jan. 4, he demanded cash from a 24-year-old clerk in a Baskin-Robbins at 11112 Flatlands Ave. and got $533, police said.

Thirty minutes later, he bungled the robbery of Chen's Garden, police said.

He was last seen wearing a black mask, orange hoodie, light jeans and orange work boots, police said.

Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477).
