FINANCIAL DISTRICT — A woman was dragged across Beaver Street Monday when a robber tried to rip her handbag from her arm but she wouldn't let go, police said.

The thief grabbed the 51-year-old woman's purse as she walked on Beaver Street, just a couple of blocks from her office, at about 1:40 p.m., according to authorities.

The robber knocked the victim to the ground when she wouldn't let go of the bag, then dragged her about 10 feet on the sidewalk toward Broadway, until a bystander intervened and held the suspect until police arrived, the NYPD said.

The 25-year-old suspect was charged with robbery and was still waiting to be arraigned as of Tuesday afternoon.

The victim, a Queens woman, was treated by EMS for scratches at the scene, police said.
