Ready, set, cycle!

Registration for the 40th annual Five Boro Bike Tour opens Tuesday, Jan. 10 at noon, event organizers said in a statement Monday.

This year's tour of the five boroughs on 40 miles of car-free streets will take place on May 7. The route begins in Lower Manhattan and ends on Staten Island.

Standard registration costs $100 plus processing fees, and kids must be registered with an adult riding in the event.

Proceeds from the 32,000 cyclists who pay to participate will fund Bike New York, a nonprofit that offers kids and adults free cycling instruction.

Organizers have banned such bags as backpacks and saddlebags since the Boston Marathon Bombings in 2013, so cyclists should check the rules before setting off for the ride.

Participants must pick up their tour programs and identification kits — which include a helmet cover, bib and bike plate — at Bike Expo New York, which which runs from May 5 to 6 at Pier 36 on the Lower East Side.
