HELL'S KITCHEN — A man suffered a severe head injury when a Peter Pan bus hit him on West 42nd Street Thursday morning, an NYPD spokesman said.
The 33-year-old man, whose name wasn't immediately released, was hit as he crossed West 42nd Street at 10th Avenue about 9:14 a.m., according to NYPD and FDNY officials said. The bus was heading west on West 42nd Street.
He was treated at Bellevue Hospital for life-threatening injuries to his head, officials said.
Blood streaked through the crosswalk near the Peter Pan bus with the phrase "Quacking Hopelessly About" written on its side. Passengers were still on board about 2 hours later.
The bus's driver, a 65-year-old man, remained on the scene and wasn't immediately ticketed or charged, police said.
A spokesman for the company declined to comment.
Police are still investigating the incident, officials said.
