EDGEMERE — The city has opened its lottery for 100 affordable studio to three-bedroom apartments in a new environmentally-sustainable building.

Beach Green Dunes, at 44-19 Rockaway Beach Blvd., is a "passive certified building," which means it has environmentally-efficient details — from solar panels to windows that block drafts.

The buildings all have dishwashers, and the building includes a green terrace, a gym, laundry room and central air. It's close to the A train, the Q22 and QM17 buses.

Most of the available apartments are one-bedrooms for people making between 50 and 90 percent of the Area Median Income, officials said.

► WHAT IS AMI?

There are two studio apartments available at $653 a month, for people making between $23,726 to $31,750, depending on household size.

Twelve one-bedrooms are available at $705 for households making between $25,4440 and $36,250.

For those making a higher income — 60 percent AMI — there are two studio apartments available at $805 per month. Those are open for households making between $28,938 and $38,100.
