THE BRONX — A Department of Correction officer raped his young daughter for years until he was arrested Tuesday, law enforcement sources said.

The officer, 47, was arrested while off-duty about 6:45 p.m. on charges of rape, sexual conduct against a child less than 13 and endangering the welfare of a child, police said.

Sources said he raped his daughter for a number of years, but didn't provide further details.

The officer, who's served since 2006, hadn't been arraigned as of Wednesday morning, records show.

"These allegations are very serious. The vast majority of our officers carry out their duties with care and integrity and [the Department of Correction] is taking many steps to ensure that all staff adhere to the highest professionalism," said Correction spokesman Peter Thorne.

The officer has been suspended and will be fired if he's convicted, officials said.
