UPPER WEST SIDE — The third-annual Columbus Avenue Holiday Stroll will feature a larger array of retailers, restaurants and salons offering in-store discounts to shoppers, organizers said.
What started a couple years ago as "a casual, mini-event for the neighborhood," has grown to feature nearly two-dozen stores, said Barbara Adler, executive director of the Columbus Avenue BID, which organized the event.
This year, 37 stores, salons and restaurants have signed up to provide discounts and snacks to shoppers on Wednesday, Dec. 14, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. The freebies include hot chocolate, facials, free gift-wrapping and wine, the BID said.
"We want people to have fun and really benefit from the joys of shopping local, rather than exclusively online or being frazzled in big box stores," said Roseanne Ierardo, manager of the Eileen Fisher store on Columbus Avenue, who helped kick off the inaugural Stroll.
For specific discounts on merchandise offered by each store and for new participants, keep checking the BID's Facebook page as the event draws closer, a rep said.
