BROOKLYN — Jaden Jordan, the 3-year-old Brooklyn boy beaten into a coma by his mother's boyfriend nearly a week ago, died Sunday, NYPD officials said.
Jaden suffered skull fractures and internal injuries when his mom's beau, Salvatore Lucchesse, 24, attacked him in their home on West Fifth Street, police said. Lucchesse was arrested on child abuse and assault charges, which are expected to be upgraded following Jaden's death, according to sources.
Jaden was found covered in feces about 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 28, and pronounced dead six days later at Coney Island Hospital, police said.
The Administration for Children's Services got a call of a boy being held in a dog cage on Nov. 27, but the caller gave them the wrong address so they couldn't find Jaden, officials said.
Officials are now probing the ACS response and why the case wasn't referred to police investigators, officials said.
Any upgraded charges against Lucchesse would need to be voted on by a grand jury, sources added, and it was not yet clear whether one has been convened.
Lucchesse has a long history of domestic violence complaints involving previous girlfriends, according to sources.
Investigators will look into whether ACS workers did enough to find Jaden after being given a wrong address by a tipster, which was right next to the boy's home.
