WILLIAMSBURG — A man died after he was struck and dragged under the wheels of a tractor-trailer Thursday morning, officials said.

Moshe Yide Weiner, 21, was getting out of his car, parked on Kent Avenue near South 10th Street, around 11:10 a.m. when he was dragged under a passing truck heading northbound on Kent, according to police, witnesses and the victim's family.

"I just saw the truck dragging him," said construction worker, Aron Gross, 25, who added that the victim was conscious when emergency responders arrived.

Another worker from the nearby construction site at 42 South 10th St. came running and found the man lying in the street.

"He was bleeding from the mouth, from the arm," Reynaldo Rivera, 38, said in Spanish.

Both workers who witnessed the accident recognized the victim and said he was delivering plumbing supplies to the site.

An employee from the site's general contractor, Express Builders JB Inc., denied that the victim was involved with their construction.

Weiner, of Williamsburg, was rushed to Beth Israel Hospital with critical injuries where he later died, police said.

Weiner was a resident of Williamsburg who had gotten married two years ago, said a relative who declined to give his name.

"He was a nice person, the nicest you could be," said the grandfather of Weiner's widow. "Very generous."

The driver remained on the scene, and the investigation is ongoing, police said.
