SNL's Pete Davidson Insults Staten Island Over Trump Votes

November 20, 2016 10:35am | Updated November 21, 2016 2:58pm

Staten Island native and SNL cast member Pete Davidson called Trump-voting areas of New York City "a big red open wound," and insulted his home borough specifically.

Davidson, 23, referenced this map of New York City neighborhood results which DNAinfo New York produced during the week of the election. Staten Island is reddest part on that map, prompting Davidson to refer to it as "the herpes of boroughs."

(As you can see, Staten Island did not vote uniformly for Trump. There are a number of strongly democratic neighborhoods.)

The Great Kills native already insulted his home borough in last month's Comedy Central special, SMD, and on Saturday's Weekend Update segment, he called for more this week.

"I know a lot of you are upset and scared and sad, myself included, and to everyone feeling that way, I think it's important to hold on to that outrage... and let it build and build, so you can release it at the exact right moment: Thanksgiving."

The show annoyed at least one noted Manhattanite:

In fact, the show featured a direct shot at Brooklyn liberal "bubble" voters. (And it should be noted that even a solidly blue Brooklyn neighborhood like Crown Heights has pockets of strong Trump support.)
