Chinese Bakery Chain Fay Da Brings Pork Buns and Bubble Tea to Woodside

WOODSIDE — Popular Chinese bakery chain Fay Da opened its first location in the neighborhood earlier this month, taking over a storefront at the corner of Roosevelt Avenue and 62nd Street, according to its owners.

The shop, which opened Oct. 18, offers a similar menu to the company's other locations — serving up sweet treats like bubble tea, cakes, cookies, pastries and savory items like roast pork buns.

The site is the 11th Fay bakery in the city, with locations in Chinatown, Flushing and other parts of Queens and Manhattan. The next closest outpost is in Elmhurst.

Store manager Chi Chiou said the company, which launched in 1991, chose Woodside because it was looking to branch out with locations outside of the city's traditionally Chinese enclaves.

"We had a lot of success in Elmhurst, which is also a very diverse area," she said.

The Woodside shop is open seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
