BEDFORD-STUYVESANT — A student was hit outside a Bedford-Stuyvesant school Wednesday afternoon, officials and witnesses said.

The girl, identified by a school safety agent as a special needs student, was struck by a vehicle outside P.S. 373 Brooklyn Transition Center on Hopkins Street near Throop Avenue around 2:30 p.m., according to an FDNY spokesman and witnesses.

Another person was hit, fire officials said, and both were taken to Woodhull Medical Center.

“The lady was on the roadside in front of the bus,” said Carl Padmore, who lives across the street from the school.

The student’s face was bruised, he added.

“She was crying. She was rocking forward and backward,” Padmore said, adding that drivers frequently speed down Hopkins Street.

The FDNY and police had no further information on the victims’ conditions or the driver.

The NYPD responded to the incident, according to Department of Education officials, and families were notified. The DOE, which did not provide further information about the incident, is providing support to the school community, officials said.
