UPPER WEST SIDE — A teen was shot three times in the back Thursday night near a basketball court in the Amsterdam Houses, police said.

Anthony Newsome, 19, a resident of the Amsterdam Houses with a lengthy criminal record, was shot about 11:18 p.m. near Amsterdam Avenue and West 64th Street, the NYPD and law enforcement sources said.

"I heard six shots. They were one after another. They were aiming for him," said a witness who identified himself as a friend of the victim.

"I came out after. He was on the ground, face down. He had a hoodie on. There was blood all over the floor. There were a ton of cops here. It was crazy."

Newsome was treated at Mount Sinai West where he's listed in stable condition, police said.

"He's a great guy. There are worse people than him," the friend added.

Witnesses spotted three men fleeing the scene, police said.

There were no immediate arrests.

Newsome was arrested 10 times between 2012 and June of this year for a range of crimes in Brooklyn and The Bronx, sources said.

In March, he was arrested for bringing a loaded gun to a school, sources said.

He was also arrested for assault in 2012, armed robbery in 2013 and selling marijuana in 2015, sources said.
