THE BRONX — A 4-month-old boy died after being found unconscious Tuesday morning in a Riverdale motel being used as a homeless shelter, according to police.

Duane Pollard Jr. was found unconscious in a fourth-floor room of the Van Cortlandt Motel where he and his mother were being provided a room by the city, an NYPD spokeswoman and sources said.

He was rushed to the Montefiore Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

There were no apparent signs of trauma and the medical examiner will determine his cause of death, the NYPD spokeswoman added.

The motel had been used as a shelter for homeless women and children, which some local residents took issue with, The Riverdale Press reported on Oct. 6.

“This is a terrible tragedy, and we are investigating,” said Lauren Gray, a spokeswoman for the Department of Homeless Services.
