CLIFTON — An ex-con was arrested after police found him with a loaded semi-automatic Desert Eagle handgun, prosecutors said.

Police found Andrew Gibbs, 36, with the powerful .50 caliber weapon loaded with four rounds on Thursday and arrested him inside his Irving Place home, according to his criminal complaint.

He was charged with criminal possession of a weapon at his arraignment and his bail was set at $15,000 cash, the Staten Island District Attorney's office said.

His lawyer did not want to comment for this story.

Gibbs was previously convicted of criminal possession of a weapon in 2005 and spent three years in jail for the crime, according to the Department of Corrections.

He was also arrested in 2010 and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, reckless endangerment, criminal possession of a controlled substance and more, according to online court records.
