TIMES SQUARE — Those walking through Times Square just before midnight can watch poetry “melt” across its billboards.

Eyes Looking,” a visual artwork that is “simultaneously a dynamic poem, a video installation and an ephemeral sculpture,” will air on Times Square’s billboards each night in October from 11:57 p.m. to midnight.

The film — which shows words "melting" across the screen, with phrases like “eyes looking” and “hearts beating” — is the latest to premiere as part of the Times Square Advertising Coalition and Times Square Arts’ "Midnight Moment" series, a release said.

Artist Tim Etchells hoped to “create moments of thoughtfulness and playful encounter in a public setting,” he said.

“...[T]he work is public, but private at the same time, trying to draw each person that encounters it into a space of intimate reflection,” Etchells explained.

The shifting texts “contrast marvelously with the insistence and aggression of Times Square’s usual visual landscape,” Times Square Alliance president Tim Tompkins added.
