HARLEM — A man was slashed on his arm and back by a stranger as he walked into his East Harlem building, police said.

The victim, 30, was confronted by his attacker who asked him if he "came from the place where you get the stuff" as he arrived at his building on E. 125th Street at 1:55 p.m. Sept. 28, according to the NYPD.

The victim responded, “no,” then the suspect took out a box cutter and slashed him from his forearm to his thumb and parts of his back, police said.

The attacker fled the scene and the victim was taken to Metropolitan Hospital for treatment, police said.

The suspect was not known to the man he attacked, according to police.

Officers described the suspect as a man in his late 40s who is about 5-foot-5.

Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
