QUEENS — Artist will soon take over the quiet street of Kew Gardens as the annual Community Arts Day returns to the neighborhood on Sunday.

The event will showcase an eclectic mix of arts, from sidewalk chalk drawings to pottery. There will be live music, story time for kids and a “silly selfie station.”

“The entire neighborhood will be turned into an art experience at the Kew Gardens Community Arts Day,” Carol Lacks, one of the organizers, said in an email sent out to local residents and artists.

The founders of the Queens Bookshop Initiative, a group working to launch an independent bookshop in the borough, will be reading to children during an interactive story time.

The festival will also include the Kew Gardens Outdoor Art Fair. Held on Austin Street and Lefferts Boulevard, the display will include works of painters, potters, photographers, glassmakers, jewelry artists and illustrators, the organizers said.

Kids will be invited to join sidewalk chalk artists, decorating the neighborhood with colorful designs. They will also get to learn various art forms at the Arts Zone.

The Kew Gardens Musicians will play a mix of music genres beginning at 1 p.m. in Kew Gardens Cinemas Park and locals will be able to take a selfie using props like mustaches, bow ties, crowns, funny glasses or hats at the “Silly Selfie Station.”

An artist will also be on hand to draw people's portraits and stores participating in the "Shop Local — Kew Gardens" initiative, which kicked off last week, will offer various promotions.

The annual Kew Gardens Community Arts Day is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 25 (rain date Oct. 16), from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
