The case of a city commissioner's missing car has been solved, and actor Paul Giamatti's show "Billions" has been cleared of any wrongdoing.

Department of Transportation Commissioner Polly Trottenberg said Saturday that her Honda Civic hybrid had been found safe and sound after going missing from Sixth Avenue and St. John's Place in Park Slope.

Trottenberg initially suspected that the Showtime series "Billions," which stars Giamatti, had towed the vehicle because the show had been filming in the neighborhood recently.

She even joked, "I'm calling Paul Giamatti and making him come give it back," Politico New York reported.

But the car turned up unharmed Friday night, Trottenberg said in an emailed statement Saturday.

"Our car was found last night; it turned out to have been towed away, probably for blocking a driveway,” Trottenberg said. "Paul Giamatti is definitely off the hook, and I apologize for cracking wise when we were actually at fault."

In fact, the "Billions" production did not tow any cars at all from Park Slope on the day Trottenberg's car went missing, a spokeswoman for the Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment said.
