Queens Native Dalilah Muhammad Makes History With Gold Medal Win

Queens is celebrating gold this Olympics.

Team USA runner Dalilah Muhammad won gold in the 400m hurdles Thursday at the 2016 Summer Games in Rio.

Muhammad, whose hometown is listed as Bayside on the Team USA website but also has connections to Rochdale Village, finished the race in 55:33, ahead of silver medalist Sara Petersen of Denmark who clocked in at 53:55. Muhammad's teammate, Ashley Spencer, won bronze with a time of 53:72.

The 26 year old Muhammad is reportedly the first American woman to win gold at the 400m hurdles.
