THE BRONX — A would-be robber shoved a 74-year-old man down a flight of stairs and kicked him before fleeing the Claremont Village building empty-handed, police said.
The suspect, who can be seen in surveillance footage released by police Friday morning, was on the landing of a stairwell in the victim's building near Crotona Avenue and Claremont Parkway about noon Thursday when he abruptly turned around and pushed his victim, NYPD officials said.
The victim threw up his arms and tumbled down the steps until he hit a door at the bottom landing, the video shows.
The suspect then tried to rob the victim and even kicked him, but ended up fleeing down the stairs empty-handed, police said.
The suspect had not been arrested as of Friday morning, police said.
The victim was treated for minor injuries at St. Barnabas Hospital, police said.
The suspect was described as standing about 6-foot-3 and was last seen wearing a blue T-shirt, black shorts, black sneakers and a dark baseball cap, police said.
