STATEN ISLAND — One person was injured when a tanker overturned and spilled fuel across the Brooklyn-bound lanes of the Staten Island Expressway and sparked "extensive delays" for the rush-hour commute, officials said.

The tanker flipped near Clove Road about 6:44 a.m., an FDNY spokesman said.

One person suffered minor injuries, but wasn't taken to the hospital, the spokesman said.

Hazmat and Sanitation teams were dispatched to clean the spill, officials said.

The spilled caused long delays, according to the city's Office of Emergency Management.
