CORONA — Some schools throughout districts 24 and 30 saw double-digit increases in this year's math and English Language Arts exams, an upward trend that's come amid gains throughout the city, data shows.
Over the last three years, the number of students in the districts who are reading at their grade level have seen a 44 percent increase, according to city statistics.
"Our schools continue to move in the right direction," said City Councilman Danny Dromm, who represents parts of the area and serves as the chair of the education committee. "These improvements are a result of the city's considerable investment in public education over the past two and a half years."
At P.S. 330 in Corona, for example, 27.7 percent of students passed this year's ELA exam, and 36.7 passed math. That's up from last year's test, where 19 percent passed ELA and 30 percent passed math.
Nearly 30 percent of students at PS 127 in East Elmhurst passed the ELA exam, a 10 percent increase over last year, according to data.
