NEW DORP — A man driving while drunk and high on heroin rear-ended a police car Monday night, prosecutors said.
James Boylan, 36, was driving his 2016 Honda Fit on Monday at 8:58 p.m. when he rammed into the back of a police car with officers inside from the 122nd Precinct near the corner of Third Street and New Dorp Lane, prosecutors said.
Boylan was so high he was unable to stand on his feet and unable to speak until EMS workers in an ambulance and administered the anti-overdose drug naloxone, prosecutors said.
He told officers, "I had one beer and I drank three shots of vodka," according to court papers.
Police found a bottle of Georgi Vodka in the back of the car and a package of heroin in Boylan's wallet, which was on the driver's side seat of the vehicle, prosecutors said.
The driver of the squad car had neck and back strain from the crash, according to the court papers.
Boylan was arraigned Tuesday on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, driving while intoxicated, driving while ability impaired, assault and criminal possession of a controlled substance at his arraignment, according to the Staten Island District Attorney's office.
He was released without bail and is due back in court on Oct. 13, according to online court records.
His lawyer could not be reached for comment.
