CLINTON HILL — A handful of G train cars have been outfitted with digital displays that show the date and time as the MTA tests the new equipment, an agency spokesman confirmed.

Two digital screens, from the China Railway Rolling Stock Corp., are now operating on four G train cars, according to the New York Daily News, who first reported the new equipment.

YouTube video of the new signs shows the digital displays featuring the train line, the date and time, and a scrolling message that says, “Thank you for riding with MTA New York City Transit!”

The screens will not indicate station stops to commuters.

The trains have also been set up with new equipment that will run diagnostics and monitor train car operations, according to the Daily News.

The MTA will test the equipment for about a year, and there are no plans yet to add the signs to other subway lines, according to MTA spokesman Kevin Ortiz

“No plans to add to other trains, but we’re still in the testing phase through June 2017,” Ortiz said in an email.
