THE BRONX — A man who shoplifted soap and peanuts from a Clason Point Family Dollar over two days threatened to shoot and stab staffers who confronted him, police said.
The suspect, who can be seen in video released by police Wednesday, first walked into the store at 415 Soundview Ave., near Underhill Avenue, about 6:30 p.m. May 20 and started pulling soap off the shelves and putting it in a black garbage bag, NYPD officials said.
When a 24-year-old clerk confronted him, he threatened to shoot her and walked out, police said.
He returned the next night about 8 p.m. and started hiding cans of peanuts in his jacket, police said.
Another clerk, a 35-year-old man, again confronted him, so he threatened to stab him, officials said.
He walked out and hadn't been arrested as of Wednesday morning, police said.
He's between 35 and 45, about 5 feet 7 inches and 165 pounds, police said.
He was last seen wearing a black baseball cap with a black jacket and black shirt, police said.
