Burglar Wakes Woman to Rape Her in Bushwick, NYPD Says

BROOKLYN — A burglar broke into a woman's Bushwick home as she slept and raped her at gunpoint before robbing her Monday morning, police said.

The suspect, who can be seen in a police sketch and surveillance video, broke into the 29-year-old woman's home near Dekalb and Wilson avenues about 1:30 a.m., NYPD officials said.

She had been sleeping, but awoke when she heard her door open and saw the burglar approach her with his silver gun drawn, police said.

He raped her, robbed her and fled the building, police said.

She was treated at Woodhull Hospital and later released, officials said.

The suspect is 34, about 6-feet tall and 195 pounds, police said.
