WASHINGTON HEIGHTS — A train service was temporarily suspended Friday afternoon after an MTA employee fell and sprained his ankle on the tracks near the 181st Street station, an MTA spokeswoman said.
The signal maintenance worker tripped on a spare rail near the intersection of 181st Street and Fort Washington Avenue at approximately 12:15 p.m. Friday, according to the FDNY and MTA.
The employee was taken to Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in non-critical condition, the FDNY said.
A train service was suspended between the 168th Street and the 207th Street stations for approximately 30 minutes while the employee was removed from the tracks, according to MTA service announcements on Twitter.
Service resumed with residual delays around 12:45 p.m., the MTA said.
