MOTT HAVEN — A total of 50 new soccer fields will arrive in underserved New York City neighborhoods over the next five years, a project that Mayor Bill de Blasio and New York City FC plan to launch on Tuesday morning.

The fields will be built as part of the New York City Soccer Initiative, a partnership between de Blasio, New York City FC, the U.S. Soccer Foundation and Adidas.

The launch is set to take place at 10:30 a.m. in Millbrook Playground, a South Bronx park where one of the first new fields will be built.
