BROOKLYN — NYPD detectives gunned down a pit bull belonging to a back up dancer of Madonna's after an assault suspect unleashed the hound on them Tuesday, according to police and reports

The pooch, who reports said was named Stonny Boy and belongs to dancer Stanley "Sheik" Mondesir, and Kamar Stewart were in front of 350 Montauk Ave. about 5:18 p.m. when three detectives came looking for Stewart, an NYPD spokesman said.

Mondesir posted photos of Stonny Boy on his Instagram account in 2013.

Stewart, who's a suspect in an assault and was dog-sitting Stonny Boy, loosed the dog which then bit one of the detectives hands, police said.

Another detective shot the dog and killed it, police said.

The detective was taken to Jamaica Hospital with minor injuries, NYPD and FDNY officials said.

The detective who fired the weapon was also taken to the hospital for evaluation, police said.

Stewart was arrested at the scene on charges of attempting to assault a police officer and for the assault he was a suspect in, an NYPD suspect said.

He hadn't been arraigned as of Wednesday morning.

Stewart's been arrested nine times before on charges including disorderly conduct in 2010 and theft of service in 2011, police said. The rest of the arrests are sealed.

It wasn't immediately clear how Stewart knows Mondesir, who specializes in a contortionist style of dance.

Mondesir, who goes by @talibaan_sheik on Instagram, was in Los Angeles at the time of the shooting, according to Daily News and Daily Mail.

Mondesir didn't immediately return a request for comment.
