FORT GREENE — A pair of taxi drivers was robbed of hundreds of dollars in cash at knifepoint in separate incidents last week, police said.
In the most recent robbery, a passenger stole $650 from the cabbie and threatened to kill him before slashing his tires with a knife, the NYPD said.
The 49-year-old driver got out of the cab at Saint Felix Street and Lafayette Avenue, across from the Brooklyn Academy of Music, to check the condition of his car after a minor accident around 7:10 a.m. on July 2, when he noticed his passenger taking the money from his center console, a police report said.
When the driver tried to confront him, the passenger pulled out a knife and said, “If you come near me, I’ll kill you,” the report said.
The passenger then slashed the cab’s front and rear driver-side tires before fleeing on foot into Fort Greene Park, police said.
No arrests have been made.
Just days earlier, on June 27, 55-year-old green cabdriver was waiting at a traffic light at Carlton and Park avenues at 4:20 p.m. when a man opened his passenger-side rear door, took out a knife and demanded cash, according to a police report.
The suspect took $120 and ran inside 60 Carlton Ave., but police were unable to find him, the report said.
Police did not say whether the two robberies were connected.
