HARLEM — Call it perfect timing.

Youngsters dashed through cool water spouting from a fire hydrant and munched on Italian ice as the Police Athletic League held its annual Playstreets — and temperatures passed 90 degrees.

The event closed off the street on West 119th Street between Manhattan and Morningside Avenues Wednesday.

The organization offered free rock climbing, football, soccer, bouncing houses, foosball and a slew of other outdoor activities.

“What we do is take the neighborhood street and try to make it a camp,” said Frederick Watts, PAL’s executive director.

“It’s a great chance for kids to be right in their neighborhood and have fun.”

The organization estimates that nearly 10,000 children will be served by 40 similar events planned over the summer across the city.
