ROSEBANK — A drunk driver sideswiped two parked cars — including an FDNY vehicle — and caused a fracture to the neck of his passenger, prosecutors said.
Dairon Encarnacion, 21, was driving his 2015 Hyundai on Sunday at 7:05 p.m. when he hit a parked FDNY car and a BMW at Reynolds Street and Hylan Boulevard, in Staten Island, prosecutors said.
When police arrived, Encarnacion told officers, "I was drinking whiskey. I was driving fast and hit the two cars," according to court documents.
The crash caused Encarnacion's passenger to fracture his neck, prosecutors said.
The front bumper of Encarncion's car was hanging off and the passenger doors of the vehicle were removed, prosecutors said.
The crash also scratched the rear bumper and broke the axle of the FDNY car while the BMW had its rear bumper and tire broken into the tire well.
Encarnacion was arrested and charged with vehicular assault, driving while intoxicated and driving while ability impaired, according to the Staten Island District Attorney's office.
In May 2014, Encarnacion was also convicted for DWI in Brooklyn, according to court papers.
Encarnacion's bond was set at $1,000 and he's due back in court on Sept. 19, according to online court records.
His lawyer could not be reached for comment.
