UPPER EAST SIDE — Police are searching for a man who robbed three banks and stole more than $4,000, the NYPD says.

The suspect first entered the HSBC Bank at 1340 Third Ave. near 77th Street on June 20 at 4:41 p.m., slipped the teller a note demanding cash and fled with $2,615, police said.

Then three days later, at 4:08 p.m., he went into Valley National Bank at 1569 Third Ave. at 88th Street, again, slipped the teller a note and made off with $1,430.

On Monday he struck again, passing a note to a teller at the 162 Amsterdam Ave. Citibank on the Upper West Side at about 1:06 p.m., but this time leaving empty-handed.

The HSBC Bank on Third Avenue has been hit by at least two other robberies this year. A man in a blue jumpsuit, Abdul Harley, was arrested after police said he tried to rob the branch on Jan. 28, and a young man stole an unspecified amount of cash on June 13, police said.

None of the banks immediately returned calls for comment on Tuesday.

The suspect is described as a man, 25 to 30 years old, 5-foot-8 and roughly 170 pounds. He was last seen wearing a t-shirt, long shorts and black shoes.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
