MIDTOWN — Popular Filipino fast food chain Jollibee is moving into Manhattan.
The international eatery, which has outposts in Woodside, Queens, and Danforth, N.J., will open at 609 Eighth Ave., between West 39th and West 40th streets, this fall, real estate firm Newmark Grubb Knight Frank confirmed.
The firm recently signed a 10-year lease with the chain, which will share the building down the street from the Port Authority Bus Terminal with Arby’s, it said in a release.
“Jollibee is primed for success at 609 Eighth Ave., given its optimum location near the bus terminal and the neighborhood’s heavy foot traffic,” NGKF director Harrison Abramowitz said in a statement.
The chain is known for its crispy “Chicken Joy,” its spaghetti dishes, a shaved ice and evaporated milk concoction known as “halo-halo” and its burgers, which are “similar to McDonald’s, but with sweeter sauces,” according to its website.
The Commercial Observer first reported news of the chain’s upcoming arrival in Manhattan.
Jollibee’s has more than 800 restaurants around the globe, NGKF’s release added.
