LONGWOOD — A 29-year-old Bronx mother was killed by a stray bullet during an outdoor party on Saturday night, police said.

Jessica White was hanging out with a group of people in the courtyard behind her apartment at 700 Westchester Ave. in the Adams Houses around 10:14 p.m. when she was shot in the torso, according to the NYPD.

EMS took her to Lincoln Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, police said.

Police believe that White was not the intended target of the bullet and that the shooter was aiming for someone else who she was hanging out with outside of her building.

There is a possibility that the shooting was gang related, but officers are not certain, they said. The investigation into White's death is ongoing, police said.

White is survived by at least two children, according to authorities.

There have been no arrests, but police have released a photograph of a person of interest wanted for questioning.

White was one of multiple homicides in The Bronx over the weekend, as an unidentified man and 31-year-old Eric Oliver were both shot to death in separate incidents in the borough on Saturday night as well.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or, for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the crime stoppers website at www.nypdcrimestoppers.com or by texting their tips to 274637 (CRIMES), then entering TIP577.
