BROOKLYN HEIGHTS — A man trying to break up a fight over a seat on a southbound "A" train last month was punched and choked as they neared a Brooklyn Heights station, police said.

The 32-year-old victim was sitting on the A train around 3:35 p.m. on May 5 when the man next to him became belligerent and started arguing with him about seating on the train, according to the NYPD

The suspect pushed the 32-year-old man and then started arguing with another unidentified passenger, police said.

The 32-year-old man tried to intervene, but the suspect fought back by punching and choking him, police said.

The suspect fled when the train arrived at the High Street station, police said.

The 32-year-old's right hand was injured, but he refused medical attention, police said.

Police released surveillance video of the suspect, who they say was last seen wearing a black jacket and blue jeans.
