WILLIAMSBURG — Police are searching for a man suspected of a string of car break-ins over a two-month span.
The break-ins — about 30 in all — span from March 29 to May 19 and have been reported near the intersection of Meeker and Metropolitan avenues and along several side streets on the north side of the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway, according to local police.
The thief punches in windows, sometimes using a rock, and then snatches whatever is inside.
In all, he's stolen more than $1,000 worth of goods, according to Capt. Peter Rose, of the 94th Precinct.
"[He's taken] a little bit of everything. Twice it was golf clubs, sporting equipment, laptops, cellphones, just the gamut," Rose said. They've captured the same man in several different surveillance camera videos breaking into cars. "You see him just walking up and down the street looking at cars."
