TIMES SQUARE — An attacker said "you will respect me when I knock you out" and punched a woman in the head on a subway platform after following her into the station, police said.

The 23-year-old victim, from Manhattan, was waiting for a southbound train at the 49th Street station near Seventh Avenue around 10:15 a.m. on April 29 when a man she didn’t know punched her in the left side of the head, the NYPD said.

The woman told police the man had followed her into the station from the street.

She suffered pain but refused medical attention at the scene, the NYPD said.

It wasn't clear if the attacker made the statement before or after the attack, according to police.

The man fled the subway platform on foot toward the West 49th Street entrance, police said.
