WASHINGTON HEIGHTS — The FDNY and city elected officials will hand out free smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in Washington Heights on Friday afternoon.

The event, hosted by the FDNY, American Red Cross, Councilman Mark Levine and Ydanis Rodriguez, and the Mayor’s Community Affairs Unit, will distribute the detectors Friday at 6 p.m. at the Alianza Triangle Building at 530 W. 166th St. as part of the #GetAlarmedNYC campaign.

Residents will not only be able to pick up the alarms on Friday, but also schedule an appointment for the FDNY to install the units at their homes on Saturday.
