Armed Robbers Snatch Handbag Outside Cash Checking Store, Police Say

TOMPKINSVILLE — A woman was robbed at gunpoint of her handbag outside a check-cashing store, police said.

The woman was in front of PLS Check Cashing, at 41 Victory Blvd., near Bay Street, on Feb. 19 when two men approached her at about 4:30 a.m., the NYPD said. PLS is open 24 hours, seven days a week.

One of the suspects took out a silver gun and forcibly removed the victim's handbag before the pair fled northbound to Bay Street, police said.

No injuries were reported in the robbery.

Police described the first suspect as bearded, 6-foot-1, 25 years old and weighing 175 pounds. He was last seen wearing black sweatpants, black and white sneakers, a gray hooded sweatshirt and a black leather jacket with a white cross on the back.

The second suspect is 5-foot-7, about 25 years old, weighing approximately 180 pounds, and was last seen wearing black pants and a black jacket, police said.
