Sakura Matsuri Cherry Blossom Festival

Sakura Matsuri is a busy festival weekend featuring more than 60 events and performances celebrating traditional and contemporary Japanese culture. Events include taiko drumming, martial arts, J-rock and J-pop dance parties, Rio’s Tokyo Magic Show, tea ceremonies, video and cartoon making workshops, book readings and a manga maven hands-on workshop. Street Games

How Much? Free
Street Games reintroduces classic, low-tech games including stickball, double-dutch, hippity hop, yo-yos, hula hoops and pogo sticks, to a new generation of kids. The event is open to all ages and abilities.
7th Annual Holi Hai 2016
Where? Dag Hammarskjold Plaza, East 47th Street, Midtown

How Much? Free, but pre-registration is required.
Holi Hai, also known as the Festival of Colors, is a Hindu festival celebrating the coming of spring. Participants throw intensely colored dry powder and water-filled balloons over each other in this fun, free-for-all carnival.

Wave Hill’s Arbor Week
Where? Wave Hill House at West 249th Street and Independence Avenue, Riverdale
When? 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
How Much? Free with admission to the grounds: $8 adults, $2 kids
Visit and sketch Wave Hill’s trees, then, using a wooden base, paper and a variety of natural materials, make your own free-standing, fully budding sculptural tree. Ages 10 and older welcome with an adult.
IndieCade East 2016
Where? Museum of the Moving Image, 36-01 35 Ave, Astoria
When? Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.
How Much? Full day pass is $45 for adults and $35 for students
IndieCade East is the Museum of the Moving Image’s annual celebration of independent games and the community who create and play them. The festival features industry presentations and workshops, though the video game installations — featuring dozens of games using custom controllers, embedded media technologies and re-appropriated consumer devices — are fun for all ages.
Just Kidding: The Big Family Quiz Thing

This live, family-friendly multimedia quiz show is presented by The Big Quiz Thing. Over six rounds, kids and their parents team up to answer questions of history, sports, art, animals, geography, pop culture, and more. Ages 7 and up.
