MANHATTAN — A cherry picker tilted into a Lower East Side building Monday evening, according to the FDNY and Department of Buildings.
The apparatus was leaning on two wheels against the sixth story of 137 Essex St. at about 6:30 p.m., a fire department spokesman said.
No injuries were reported, and fire officials did not believe the building was in danger of collapsing.
The Department of Buildings was requested to inspect the building’s stability, according to the DOB’s website. The DOB issued a stop work order at the site, an official said Monday evening in an email.
The device at issue is a cherry picker, also known as a man lift, according to the Department of Buildings.
